A Russian company which plans to build the world's first space hotel has released further details on its ambitious project.
The plan, which would see a hotel placed into orbit some 350 kilometers above the earth, was first unveiled last year by Russian firm Orbital Technologies as a commercial alternative to the International Space Station.
This week, it revealed further details of the design at an aviation industry event in Moscow, suggesting that it will be able to accommodate seven people at a time -- with the most incredible views you're likely to get out of a window.
While floating above the earth, guests are likely to be able to watch TV and surf the internet, reports suggest, although that will probably be the end of it, as venturing outside (along with drinking and smoking) won't be allowed.
Cuisine, for that matter, may not be particularly impressive either, and it will come with a hefty carbon footprint, having been prepared and freeze-dried on earth before being shuttled up.

Pay Pal founder and early Facebook investor Peter Thiel has given $1.25 million to an initiative to create floating libertarian countries in international waters, according to a profile of the billionaire in Details magazine.
Thiel has been a big backer of the Seasteading Institute, which seeks to build sovereign nations on oil rig-like platforms to occupy waters beyond the reach of law-of-the-sea treaties. The idea is for these countries to start from scratch--free from the laws, regulations, and moral codes of any existing place. Details says the experiment would be "a kind of floating petri dish for implementing policies that libertarians, stymied by indifference at the voting booths, have been unable to advance: no welfare, looser building codes, no minimum wage, and few restrictions on weapons."
Justice and the protection of the law are for all Indonesians, including migrant workers, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on Tuesday during the State Speech coinciding with Independence Day,
"We have to admit that upholding the law is still a big challenge,” Yudhoyono said. “A number of legal cases have gained public attention, including the execution of an Indonesian citizen in Saudi Arabia. That hurt us.”
In June, the government halted the sending of domestic workers to Saudi Arabia in response to the execution of Ruyati binti Sapubi, 54, an Indonesian maid who claimed she had killed her employer in self defense. Another maid was later saved from a similar fate in Saudi Arabia when the government paid blood money to the victim's family.
Yudhoyono said that the government would accelerate economic development in order to provide alternatives so that workers do not have to leave Indonesia to seek a livelihood.
“We hope there will be more employment locally, so that our sisters do not have to work in the informal sector or as maids abroad,” he said. “This is about our dignity and pride as a nation.”

KATMANDU, Nepal (AP) — Nepal's major political parties disagreed Monday on who should replace the prime minister who resigned a day earlier, pushing the country back into the yearslong political crisis that has left it without a constitution or a stable government.
It took 17 votes in parliament over seven months to get Jhalnath Khanal elected prime minister in February because of the fierce infighting among the parties. Khanal resigned Sunday after failing to make progress toward adopting a constitution or bringing reconciliation to this politically tumultuous South Asia nation.
A Canadian author will become the first Muslim-born woman to lead a mixed-gender British congregation through Friday prayers tomorrow in a highly controversial move that will attempt to spark a debate about the role of female leadership within Islam.
Raheel Raza, a rights activist and Toronto-based author, has been asked to lead prayers and deliver the khutbah at a small prayer session in Oxford.
She has been invited by Dr Taj Hargey, a self-described imam who preaches an ultra-liberal interpretation of Islam which includes, among other things, that men and women should be allowed to pray together and that female imams should lead mixed congregations in prayer.
